It’s fair to say that the newly introduced ‘Sydney 7s Festival’ went down a storm at the 2019 HSBC Sydney 7s earlier this year, adding a new entertainment angle to this already-incredible event.
With the move to Spotless Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park came the opportunity to turn the on-site purpose-built amphitheater into the HSBC Sydney 7s first ever ‘Festival Tent’, bringing a mixture of world-class performers, local music acts and multi-cultural entertainers to the stage.
The Festival Tent was dressed up and kitted out with everything you’d expect from a normal festival stage, with some added extras (like the crowd-favourite foam machine and CO2 jets) thrown in for good measure.
Probably the most memorable of all the performances in the Festival Tent was that of Sydney-based, internationally recognised DJ, DJ Tigerlily, whose knock-your-socks-off set sent the dancefloor into a frenzy. There’s some epic footage in our Official After-Movie, which you can watch here.
Before DJ Tigerlily took to the stage, the Festival Tent crowd were treated to a fun and energetic performance from world-class DJ duo ‘Yolanda Be Cool’, who’s track ‘We Speak No Americano’ hit the number one spot in music charts across the globe a few years back. There were also performances from Aussie artists Tkay Maidza and L-Fresh The Lion.
The Festival Tent also played host to some incredible performances from a range of multi-cultural acts including pipe bands, drummers, singers, dancers and more!
On top of this, also on the lineup was a selection of local up-coming DJs from the 'Your Shot' roster of talented performers. The Your Shot DJs and multi-cultural performers ensured the Festival Tent entertainment ran for almost the entire length of the three-day tournament, offering patrons the opportunity to momentarily escape the enthralling Rugby action and enjoy an alternative form of entertainment.
What will the 2020 HSBC Sydney 7s Festival Stage bring? You’ll have to wait and see, but we promise you it will be EPIC!
