The Los Pumas finished off the 2016/2017 HSBC World Series Sevens in London placing 7th after beating France 35-7. Overall the Los Pumas finished 9th in the World Series rankings, but have qualified for the 2018 Sevens World Cup in San Francisco. After the 2016 Rio Olympics the Los Pumas Sevens squad have experienced a period of renewal and with many fresh faces and young additions to the team, they have their sights set on the 2018 San Francisco World Cup and Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Current captain Gaston Revol brings experience to the team, being at least four years older than his junior team mates.
The name Argentina originates from the latin word for silver, ‘argentum’. European settlers thought that the country was full of silver.

Matías Osadczuk will be one to watch after winning the World Series Rookie of the Year Award. Osadczuk’s season was cut short in Hong Kong when he suffered a knee injury but nevertheless, he has scored the second most tries for the Los Pumas in the 2016/2017 season and the third most points overall.
